Preparing For An Event: Timeline for Injectable Treatments

As we encroach on 2024 there may be some big events this year on your radar. Are you getting married? Attending a photo shoot? Preparing for a performance?

While you are busy trying to plan and prepare for this event, do not forget to consider that any beauty prep treatments should be performed in advance.

If you are new to aesthetics, the sooner you jump into things, the better. Start by finding an experienced, reputable provider. {Read more on what to look for when choosing an injector in last week’s post}. You will likely want to start looking into treatments at least six months before your event. You want time to allow your results to settle and make any “tweakments” as the event approaches.

  1. Neurotoxins (Botox, Daxxify, Dysport):

A treatment for most candidates due to the wrinkle-smoothing benefits. Whether you are working on wrinkle prevention or trying to diminish existing lines, you’ll want to start these treatments at least 6 months before your event. You want to make sure you like how your treatment results look and make any adjustments as needed so that you are ready for your big day. When it comes to the treatment leading up to your event, you will want to see us for treatment at least 4 weeks before an event. Neurotoxin injections take 14-21 days to settle and reach their peak effect. Any appointments within the week of an event will not get you the results you desire.

  2. Dermal Fillers (Juvéderm, Restylane, Revance):

A treatment for most candidates due to the shape and smoothing benefits. Whether you are someone who wants to add some added volume/fullness or definition/contour to their face, you'll want to start these treatments as soon as possible. You’ll want to review your injectors before and after photos to make sure they are aligned with what you want for yourself. If you are considering a full-face restoration or facial-balancing treatment, you will want to start your treatments at least 3-6 months in advance. You want to make sure you like how your treatment results look and make any adjustments as needed so that you are ready for your big day. When it comes to the treatment leading up to your event, you will want to see us for treatment at least 4-6 weeks before an event. Injectable fillers take 14-30 days to settle and for all inflammation to be resolved.

  3. Kybella:

A treatment for some candidates due to the fat-reducing benefits. Whether you are looking to decrease the size of your “double-chin” or “underarm” fat, you’ll want to start these treatments at least 3-6 months before your event since Kybella takes multiple treatments spaced out a month or so apart. When it comes to the treatment leading up to your event, you will need at least 6-8 weeks before the event since swelling can take longer to resolve.

  4. Sculptra:

A treatment for candidates due to the collagen-inducing benefits. Whether you are looking to naturally improve your skin or have volume loss, you’ll want to start these treatments at least 6-8 months before your event since Sculptra takes multiple treatments spaced out a month or so apart. When it comes to the treatment leading up to your event, you will want at least 8-10 weeks before the event since collagen production is a process that takes your body time to make.
