PRP, PRF, & PRFM: What to Expect?

Before Treatment:

  • Drink lots of water the day before treatment so you are well hydrated.

  • Avoid blood thinners, including alcohol and medications, for seven days before treatment as these medications can affect your platelets.

During Treatment:

  • A small amount of blood is drawn and placed in a centrifuge to separate the blood components. After spinning, the resulting liquid is concentrated in platelets and fibrin and is packed with growth factors.

  • The PRFM matrix can be: 1) used in microneedling procedures, or 2) injected into the skin.

After Treatment:

  • Injection-site redness, swelling, and bruising may occur but is self-limited.

  • The risk of allergic reactions is very low as it is an autologous product.

  • There is no downtime or significant restrictions after PRFM treatments.

  • For optimal results, a series of 3-4 treatments is performed every 4-6 weeks with biannual or yearly refresher treatments to maintain your results.

  • PRFM results continue to improve over weeks and can last up to a year.
